POCKET AND WIN 10 GETTING 1.0 - THE ENDER UPDATE SOON!
There comes a time in every Minecraft edition’s life when they evolve from being a mere percentage into a fully fledged number. For Pocket Edition and Windows 10 that time is almost here. 1.0 - The Ender Update is coming!
We didn’t pick that number for the lols. Our next update is packed with features but most significant is probably The End and its iconic inhabitant - The Ender Dragon. Though you can carry on playing after defeating the misunderstood beast, for many, taking it down is the ultimate goal in Minecraft. Something to aim for and achieve after hours of play. A tangible end-game for Survival players.
Of course, we’ll continue to update Pocket Edition and the Windows 10 Edition beta after this update. There’s plenty more to come!
Also, FYI, this is the update that the Apple TV Edition will ship with when it releases. Why not begin at The End, eh?
Alongside The End we’re also increasing the world height to 256 blocks. If you ask me, a 256 block-high building is a silly, silly thing but I suffer from mild vertigo so take from that what you will. You also get the snazzy new Elytra, known to the average human as “wings”. They’ll give you a whole new perspective on your Minecraft worlds as you float around free as a bird. A bird who can’t fly upwards but is super good at gliding.
There are a lot more features in the new update but we’re not going to go into those right now. We think it would be more fun if you find them out yourselves.
Oh, and Android users get to test out the beta for themselves! If you’re playing on an Android device, sign up here and get testing. Remember though - betas mean we’re still working on the update so expect bugs and weirdness. Tell us if you spot ‘em and let us know what you think here.
Thanks for sticking with us, everyone, no matter which platform you play on! Big congratulations to Pocket and Windows 10 for reaching the big 1.0. And sorry for sending millions of grizzled players into your home, Ender D. We love you really.

ADD-ONS! SPONGES! POCKET / WIN 10 GETS THE BOSS UPDATE
Wet sponges - I’ve recently discovered that babies like to suck on them, which is kinda gross to be honest. But let’s not worry about that for now. Minecraft: Pocket Edition and the Windows 10 Edition beta are being updated to 0.16 today, bringing loads of new features, most of which are not in the slightest bit soggy.
First: Add-Ons. These are kind of a big deal. Add-Ons allow anyone to change the way a Minecraft world works. You could, for example, change chickens’ behavior so you can ride them or make creepers even more explodey than they already are. You could take all of your memories, program them into a villager, then study its behaviour to help determine what you should do next with your life. Not sure about that actually, but Add-Ons are most definitely cool.
They could change the way you play Minecraft forever. And you can even share them with friends and family over Realms. Check out our dedicated page for more info and to see exciting examples of possible creations. And if you do end up dabbling in Add-Ons provide us with feedback so we can make them even better!
This update also brings the ability to upload and download your worlds to Minecraft Realms. That opens up a wealth of options. You can take your offline worlds and start sharing them with friends, download a Realm for those times you don’t have an internet connection, or use Realms to make regular backups of your offline worlds.
As if all that wasn’t enough, this update also brings life to a whole new part of your Minecraft worlds. Until now, Pocket and Windows 10 players haven’t had a reason to explore the depths but this update brings Ocean Monuments and their underwater inhabitants - Guardians and Elder Guardians - along with all kinds of water-themed goodness including sea lanterns, prismarine, and more. Go deep and explore!
OK! Enough blabbering! Here’s the full changelog!
[UPDATE: this list originally included entries for F3 support and coordinates, but these didn’t make it into this release after all. Soz.]

FEARSOME FIXES! CHANGELOG 0.15.10 FOR POCKET / WIN 10
Hello! The 0.15.10 update for Pocket and Windows 10 Edition slunk out during the dark hours of the night, bringing with it the chilling Campfire Tales skin pack and squishing a fair few bugs.
We’ve been having a few issues distributing the special MINECON skins and associated capes. They are meant to be free, but some users have been asked for money while trying to obtain them through the Google Play store. If you do get prompted for a fee, use the code MINECON2016, and it should let you have them for the correct price of zero money.
Android users who want the skins should do this as soon as possible - the skins won’t be available for much longer!
Anyway, on to the log:
New Features:
Cheerio!

EEK! CAMPFIRE TALES SKIN PACK HAUNTS POCKET / WIN 10!
Halloween is almost upon us! The land falls into shadow. The moon is but a sallow, spiteful eye, glowering through black clouds. Ancient things - forgotten things - begin to stir in the lonely places of the earth. A sickly fog rasps through the streets. Lock the doors! Shutter the windows! Huddle round the fire. It’s time to swap stories of the strange, the sinister and the supernatural!
Scared out of your skin? Luckily for you, the Campfire Tales skin pack comes with 16 more! It crept from the shadows and onto Pocket / Win 10 Edition during the night.
Each skin is exceptionally spooky. If you’ve been following our Twitter feed, you may have spotted some of the twisted tales behind them - the jealous Headless Haunter, the vengeful Lumbering Jack, the obsessive Sea-Swallowed Captain, the hasty confectioner Crisp, the cursed Well Wisher, Rancid Anne, The Sham, Ol’ Diggy and the Risen Rose.
Scared out of your skin? Luckily for you, the Campfire Tales skin pack comes with 16 more! It crept from the shadows and onto Pocket / Win 10 Edition during the night.

But there are stories left to tell! What otherwordly origin could explain The Enderall? What sad story anchors The Lapis Lady to this earthly realm? For whom, or what, does Cropsy wait? What drives the mysterious Farlander? What will the Silksnatcher do with all that webbing? Where does the Blocksquatch hide? And just why is The Unshorn so woolly?

MINECRAFT SNAPSHOT 16W39B - THE EXPLORATION UPDATE
Update: Minecraft snapshot 16w39b has been released!
Seven years and counting, Minecraft is still growing and expanding. We thought it is about time we add something to guide you through the vastness of the endless overworlds. Introducing the Exploration Update!
Among your villager friends, you will now find the Cartographer residing in the library. Spend your hard-earned emeralds to obtain maps leading you to adventurous locations such as the Ocean Monument and the new Woodland Mansion.
This procedurally generated dungeon is the home of the villager’s outcast cousins, the Illagers. This insidious and spooky crowd will not tolerate any trespassers in their home, so you should expect a fight when you venture there for the mansion’s treasure.
The Exploration Update also brings the Shulker Box, an inventory-expanding chest originating from The End itself. This box’s primary property is to keep items inside of itself even when the box is knocked down. This behavior is something that contraption tinkerers should find useful as well, as it enables large amounts of items to be transported in a predictable manner.
Speaking of transporting items, Minecraft now hosts llamas! The llamas live in the mountains and can be equipped with chests to carry items for you. Well-mannered as they are, they will also politely form caravans whenever you lead one in your travels.
As always there are many other neat additions in this update, and here is the intentionally noninformative change log:

SOON: 1.11 FOR PC/MAC BRINGS LLAMAS, MANSIONS & MAPS!
Grand development wizard Jens has unveiled a slew of awesome new things coming in the next update of PC / Mac edition - dubbed “The Exploration Update”. And with good reason, as you shall find out.
The update introduces the Illagers - a new bunch of mobs who inhabit Woodland Mansions. They’re a mean lot who attack intruders with deadly magic and summon mischievous flying imps called Vexes.
True to the update’s name, you can now buy maps from village Cartographers which will lead you to Ocean Monuments and Woodland Mansions. There be treasure!

You will also be able to manage your bloated inventory with Shulker Boxes - special chests that retain their contents even when knocked down.
And let’s not forget the fluffiest of 1.11’s additions: llamas! They’re basically adorable mobile chests. Stick a carpet on them to make ‘em snazzy. They’ll even form caravans as you lead them across the land and attack hostile mobs with gobs of spit. Charming!

Plus: it comes with a special map for the Battle Mini Game we released in June!
It’s completely, ridiculously gorgeous, too. Just look!

ADD-ONS AHOY! BOSS UPDATE COMING OCTOBER 18
Not only does the Boss Update for Pocket and Windows 10 bring some much awaited mobs - the Elder Guardian can now be found in the sprawling, mysterious Ocean Monuments, and the Wither appears in revamped fighting form - there are loads of big technical tweaks besides. It’s boss in every sense!
The biggest news is that this update will see the first implementation of Add-Ons. You’ll hear even more about Add-Ons tomorrow if you tune into Searge and Jason Major’s talk at 3.30pm PST, but here’s the low-down: Add-Ons are the first step on our journey towards bringing even greater levels of customisation to all editions of Minecraft - starting with Pocket and Windows 10.
They let you remix mobs, switching out the models, textures and behaviours. Rideable chickens! Ultra-explosive pigs! Etc! It’s pretty simple to grasp - all of these components can be tweaked and swapped by editing text files - but it’s also super powerful, as demonstrated by the elaborate Alien Invasion Add-On we first showed at E3. Now we can reveal that SethBling, Blockworks and MindCrack have collaborated to produce a second example Add-On, called Castle Siege. A massive battle rages and you can pick either side: defend the fort from the mob horde or join the monsters and crash the keep!

And that’s not all - the Boss Update brings a few more fab features:
Pretty boss indeed!

NEW INTELLIGENCE: EDUCATION EDITION ARRIVES NOV 1!
Earlier this year, we launched an early access version of Minecraft: Education Edition. It went pretty well! Some 35,000 students and teachers got involved, helping to make our Minecraft-based smartification tools even smarter than they already were.
Now, we’re happy to announce that the full version of Minecraft: Education Edition will be available to buy from November 1. If you want to check it out before purchase, the early access version will still be freely available until then.
Based on the feedback we got from the early access version, we’re rolling out even more hot stuff in the November release build:
Classroom mode: a companion app that allows teachers to view the world as a map, list all the present students, teleport them about, grant resources and chat. Pretty handy if you want to keep an eye on what’s going on without being in the gameworld yourself.
The latest Minecraft Windows 10 edition features: updated UI, leads, horses, player skins, pistons and all the new redstone functionality.
Have other suggestions for what to include? Get in touch. You can also check out the dedicated Education Edition website for resources like lesson plans, tutorials, starter worlds and access to a network of likeminded educators via the Minecraft Mentors program.
Minecraft: Education Edition costs $5 per user, per year or through a district-wide licensing model. To begin using Minecraft: Education Edition early access:

PRINT YOUR SKIN AT MINECON THANKS TO MATTEL & 57DIGITAL
If you’re going to MINECON you may be interested to know that toy-wizards Mattel are offering a supercool skin-printing service, so you can slap your game-face (and game-body, game-legs and game-arms) onto a nifty figurine!
It’s seriously cool. You craft the look of your unique figure by using an actual skin from the game. Mattel creates and prints a custom label based on your in-game skin (or one of the exclusive soon-to-be-revealed MINECON 2016 designs!), and then you stick it onto the figure. Just come to the Mattel booth at MINECON, purchase your Survival Mode Player One Figure ($15.00 + tax), print your label at the booth and you’ll have your very own mini-minecrafter, ready to create, explore and survive the sprawling landscape of your shelf or desk!

FANTASTIC! CHANGELOG 0.15.8 FOR POCKET / WIN 10 APPEARS!
The furnaces have been burning late into the night over at the great Binary Tree that is home to the Pocket Edition coding elves, the hungry blue flames dancing ever higher with each shovelful of untempered C++ ore that is thrust within. Soon, using words and signs unthinkable to mortal kind, these arch digi-wizards will conjure update 0.16 from the shadowy beta realm, fixing it into its final form! But even though they labour so, in a feat of true Tolkien-esque heroism and/or caffeination, they have managed to bend spacetime to summon the 0.15.8 update into existence, bringing with it support for the Fantasy texture pack.
Look at them go! Well done, elves.
The Fantasy texture pack transforms Minecraft into a world of medievalism and magic well-suited to the creation of colossal castles, splendid spires and dank dungeons. Just look!
